The station is 22.5 km (14 miles) north of Shrewsbury on the Welsh Marches Line towards Crewe. The station has two platforms and trains only stop here upon request. Monday to Saturdays there is generally a two-hourly service from here southbound to Shrewsbury and northbound to Crewe with four trains a day in each direction on Sundays. Prees is a village and civil parish in north Shropshire, near the border between England and Wales. Its name is Celtic and means "brushwood". Near to the village of Prees, but not in the village as the name would suggest, is the railway station of Prees. It lies on the Welsh Marches Line, between Whitchurch and Wem.
