High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Prince of the Lilies (or the Lily prince) is a celebrated ancient Minoan fresco on the Greek island of Crete dated to about 1550 BC.(In the new palace period:1700-1450 BC). Fresco painting was one of the most important forms of Minoan art,but unfortunately the most of the surviving examples of it are fragmentary. The walls of the great halls of the palaces and houses of Crete were skilfully decorated with frescoes. The paint was applied swiftly while the wall plaster was still wet,so that the colours would be completely absorbed and not fade. The Minoans followed the Egyptian convention regarding colour:red for men's skin, white for women's,yellow for gold objects, blue for silver and red for bronze.By the existing frescoes one can gain the sense of the character of the Minoan life and art,the Minoan joie de vivre.
