High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Latin prosody deals with the science of Latin versification and its laws of meter. This article provides an overview of those laws as practised by Latin poets in the late Roman Republic and early Roman Empire, with verses by Catullus, Horace and Virgil as models. Latin poets borrowed their verse forms from the Greeks, despite significant differences in the two languages, and part of this article addresses the significant issues raised by that Greek heritage.
