Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Publius Enigma is a mystery involving a riddle proposed in connection with the 1994 Pink Floyd album The Division Bell. It originated on the Internet as a Web-based contest implemented to promote the album and its tour. Although the true nature of the puzzle has never been revealed and the consensus is that it was largely abandoned by its creators, the challenge remains unsolved as of 2010[update], and the matter has yet to be brought to an official conclusion. If the postings were false as stated by band members, then it would be an early example of viral marketing. During the 1994 Division Bell World Tour, Columbia Records flew a 194 foot-long zeppelin named The Division Belle between Pink Floyd concert locations. The Columbia Electronic Press Kit was released to the media, along with the Promo Spots Video consisted of interviews with band members, footage of the airship in action, and a segment which contained the following: "A spokesperson for Pink Floyd has issued the following statement: You have spotted the Pink Floyd Airship. Do not be alarmed."
