Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Australian musicians played and recorded some of the earliest punk rock. Perhaps the most notable example were The Saints, who released their first single in 1976. Bands playing sub-genres or offshoots of punk music, such as local hardcore acts, still have a strong cult following throughout Australia. Many believe that the Saints were Australia's first punk band. However, this is not the case. The coloured balls, fronted by Lobby Loyde, were formed in the early seventies. Their first recorded album proper was recorded in 1972. The album was to be called "Rock Your Arse Off". The album was was deemed not commercial enough. This album would not be released until 1976 under the aptly named "First Supper Last". Their first officially released album was called "Ball Power" which was released in 1973. Kurt Cobain and Pavement have cited Loyde as an influence. In the same year that "Ball Power" was released the Saints were formed.
