QAD sells its products and services to companies in six main industries: automotive, consumer products, high technology, food and beverage, industrial equipment and life sciences. Early in the company's evolution QAD embraced the emergence of open systems, which today form the foundation of most companies' applications architecture. Over 60 percent of revenue is derived outside the United States. QAD was originally formed in 1979 by Pam Lopker, who remains QAD's President and Chairman today. QAD initially developed bespoke software applications for companies in Southern California.
