Qasim al-Raymi was a citizen of Yemen who was alleged to be a senior leader of an Islamic militant group. Al-Raymi is one of 23 men who escaped in the February 3, 2006 prison-break in Yemen, along with other notable al-Qaeda members. He next appears in connection to a July 2007 suicide bombing that killed 8 Spanish tourists. In 2009, the Yemeni government accused him of being responsible for the running of an al-Qaeda training camp in Abyan province. Abu Hureira Qasm al-Rimi is the name tied to a man identified in a threatening video posted anonymously to YouTube. Agence France Presse reported he had also been identified as "Abu Hureira al-Sana'ani". The Jamestown Foundation identified him as Qasim al-Rimi. According to the Jamestown Foundation "Abu-Hurayrah" is a title—it means "military commander". He was al-Qaeda's military chief in the Al-Qaeda's offshoot Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
