High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Radioropa Info was the designation of the only German language privately-owned longwave broadcasting station. It was the air with several stations during the 1990s with a silent stretch on longwave in the middle of the decade. Radioropa was first available only on satellite. It then began using time on the Radio Wolga longwave service on 261 kHz at the Burg AM transmitter in Burg bei Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt. Next, Radioropa obtained FM frequencies in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony. When the Soviet army withdrew from the former East Germany in 1994, Radioropa took over 261 kHz completely. The longwave transmission went silent during 1994/1995 because the rent for the transmitter was too high. Only after a new contract with Deutsche Telekom was prepared did Radioropa continue to send Info on longwave.
