It was founded by Anne Wood in 1984, who later devised many of their phenomenally successful television series, seen (in the case of Teletubbies) in 111 countries and translated into 41 languages. Anne Wood CBE is a British children's television producer. She was born in 1937 at Spennymoor, a mining town in County Durham, England. She became a secondary school teacher in Durham. She moved to Surrey, with her husband and children. She founded the National Federation of Children's Book Groups and edited its magazine Books for your children. She switched to publishing children's books and then became a television producer.
