High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ragnhei ur Jonsdottir (1646–1715) was the daughter of the Icelandic priest Jon Arason and his wife Holmfri ur Sigur ardottir. She was one of twelve children, and became the wife of two consecutive bishops in the Holar see -- Gisli orlaksson and Einar orsteinsson. Ragnhei ur was considered one of the finest marriagable women of her time and was an active seamstress. She taught this skill actively. Ragnhei ur is probably best known for being on the front of the 5000 Icelandic Kronur bank note. When this note was introduced, the Central Bank of Iceland tried to find imagery related to Icelandic women and their contribution to Icelandic culture.
