High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Railway Lands, Toronto is a large section of development of the former railway lands in downtown Toronto. The lands was once home to Canadian National Railways tracks and later owned by federal crown corporation Canada Lands Company. Only one of the two sections bear a neighbourhood name. The area's development began in the 1970s with the building of the CN Tower, but city planning changes lead to the stopping of any growth until the late 1980s and early 1990s. The area consists of two sections: * CityPlace, Toronto is a residential development built just west of Spadina Avenue, south of Front Street and north of the Gardiner Expressway. * mixed use land slightly east of Spadina to Yonge Street is home to Union Station, Toronto (and Union Station Bus Terminal), Dominion Public Building, CN Tower, Rogers Centre, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Steam Whistle Brewing and Air Canada Centre.
