High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ram Karmabhoomi is the area composing of Rameshwaram, Dhanushkodi, Adam's Bridge, also known as Rama's Bridge where the Hindu deity Rama is believed to have conducted his fight against Ravana to rescue Sita. It is called so because in terms of importance to Hindus it matches Ram Janmabhoomi which is believed by Hindus to be the location of Rama's birth. Rama's heritage, including the holy city of Rameshwaram is under jeopardy from the launch of the Sethusamudram Canal Project. The construction of a canal will destroy this bridge. It is also argued that design of the canal is likely to invite a tsunami that could wash out Rameshwaram, similar to the manner in which Poompuhar was washed away.
