Edwin Carewe (March 5, 1883 - January 22, 1940) was an American motion picture director, actor, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in Gainesville, Texas, as Jay Fox. After brief studies at the universities of Texas and Missouri and a period of work with regional theatrical groups, he moved to New York in 1910, where he became a member of the Dearborn Stock Company. A stage actor from his teens, he had his screen debut in 1915's The Final Judgement, a film of the Rolfe-Metro.
