Randall Carver (born May 25, 1946) is an American stage, television and movie actor, perhaps best recognized in his role as John Burns on the popular 1970's ABC-TV sitcom show Taxi. The adopted son of Russell Carver, a successful businessman and banker,and his wife Virginia, a three time Life Master Bridge Player. Randy spent his early childhood in Canadian, Texas a suburb Amarillo. It is here that a young Carver got his first taste of acting and learned to read while holding his mothers scripts while she rehearsed for community theatre productions. He appeared in the World Premiere of the outdoor musical "Texas" in Palo Duro Canyon. A graduate of West Texas State University, was also a member of Kappa Alpha Order and was involved in Student Politics.
