Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Randolph Osborne Douglas (March 31, 1895 - Dec 5 1956) was a silversmith, artist and amateur escapologist, who worked under the stage name, 'The Great Randini' As a young boy, Douglas spent his pocket money on locks and even a strait jacket as he worked hard to follow in his hero Harry Houdini's footsteps. He saw Houdini play at the Sheffield Empire Theatre, and met his hero face to face there, around 1913. After becoming friends with Houdini, they wrote to each other frequently until Houdini's death. Letters from their correspondence are kept at the Magic Circle in London. Also there are lovely sketches of Randolph's ideas for magical illusions and stage designs. Houdini biographers, William Kalush and Larry Sloman, in 'The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero' say that Douglas and his upside down escape inspiration, 'changed the course of magic's history.'
