Randy Raine-Reusch is a Canadian composer, performer, improviser, and multi-instrumentalist specializing in wind and string instruments from around the world, particularly those from East and Southeast Asia. Raine-Reusch studied at the Creative Music Studio in the 1970s with artists such as Frederic Rzewski, Jack Dejohnette, and Karl Berger, before going overseas to study with master musicians in Australia, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, and the Philippines, as well as with "National Treasures" in South Korea and Japan. Instruments on which Raine-Reusch is proficient include the Chinese guzheng, the Japanese sho and ichigenkin, the Korean kayagum, the Australian didjeridu, and the Appalachian dulcimer. Raine-Reusch has recorded with Pauline Oliveros, Aerosmith, The Cranberries, Yes, and Raffi, as well with as his own intercultural quartet, ASZA. He also performs as a duo with his wife, the Chinese zheng virtuoso and scholar Mei Han.
