Kunithala Ranjith (born 1964), often credited simply as Ranjith, is a popular Indian screen writer and film director in Malayalam cinema. He is considered one of the most prolific screenplay writers and directors in contemporary Malayalam cinema. In his career spanning over two decades, he has scripted several super hits including Narashimham, which set a box office record as being one of the highest grossing films in the history of Malayalam cinema. In the year 2000, Ranjith made his directorial debut with Ravanaprabhu, a sequel to Devasuram, a film penned by him back in 1993. Although he started out as a screenplay writer, Ranjith is now one among the lead innovative directors in the Malayalam film industry.
