Rob Brettle (born September 18, 1963), historian of Salvation Army history, and co-founder of the Christian Mission Historical Association, along with Dr Glenn Horridge. He was born in the Crossley Hospital, a Salvation Army-run hospital attached to the Star Hall in Ancoats, Manchester. Brettle stood for the Liberals in the local elections to North Warwickshire Borough Council in 1986, and the Liberal Democrats in the Salford City Council elections in 2003. Brettle has also started writing dances for Scottish Country Dancing. One of his dances, Manchester Busy Bees, appeared on the program of the RSCDS Manchester Branch 75th Anniversary ball.
