He is the father of St. Louis Rams linebacker Bobby Carpenter, And Also, Nathan Carpenter, (The Ball-carrier). He currently resides in Lancaster, Ohio and is a teacher and head coach of the Lancaster High School football team. He is a graduate of Miami University. He was best known for playing in the National Football League where he rushed for 4,363 yards in a ten-year career with the Houston Oilers, New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams. Robert J. Carpenter III (born August 1, 1983 in Lancaster, Ohio, USA) is an American football linebacker in the National Football League for the St. Louis Rams. He played college football at The Ohio State University and was drafted in the first round (18th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. When at Ohio State, Carpenter formed one of the best linebacker tandems in the country with A. J. Hawk, another future first round pick.
