High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Rob DesLauriers (born January 25, 1965 in Vermont) is one of the originators of extreme skiing. DesLauriers began skiing at the age of two. His parents owned Bolton Valley Ski Resort in Vermont, which gave the young man and his brother Eric the opportunity to ski almost every day. The two brothers began appearing in Warren Miller ski films in the late 1980s as some of the first extreme skiers. The two put their skiing knowledge to work around 1990 by teaming with friends to start the Xteam Advanced Ski Clinics for intermediate to expert skiers. In December 1998, DesLauriers was named by Powder Magazine one of the top 50 skiers in North America. He is also an avid cinematographer, and co-founder with his brother Eric of Straight Up Films. DesLauriers documented the first snowboard descent of Artesonraju in Peru, and in 1999 released a backcountry adventure documentary "Higher on the Mountain." DesLauriers and his brother also wrote Ski the whole Mountain, a book on how to ski any terrain.
