Arnold was a member of a New Zealand boy band, Boyband, whose debut single, a remake of the classic Kinks song "You Really Got Me", debuted at #1 on the New Zealand Music Charts on 9 October 2006. Boyband was created from a competition run by The Edge radio station. Arnold was known as 'the gay boy' in the band. Before Boyband, Arnold had auditioned for every series of New Zealand Idol. He auditioned twice on reality TV show “Showstoppers”, the second time in disguise, leading to criticism from judge Michael Hurst. Among his small roles in feature films is a cameo in the 2007 New Zealand film "The Devil Dared Me To".
