He attended Illinois State University, earning an undergraduate degree in fine art, and then went on to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he earned an MFA in Sequential Art. The Savannah College of Art and Design, or SCAD, is a private university located in Savannah, Georgia, with campuses in Atlanta, Hong Kong, and Lacoste, France. SCAD offers fine art degrees. SCAD enrolls more than 9,000 students from all 50 states, and 100 countries. International student enrollment is 10-12 percent. The college offers a study-abroad campus in Lacoste, France. In 2009, the school announced plans to open another campus in Hong Kong in 2010. It will be housed in the former North Kowloon Magistracy.
