High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Robert Gass (born 1948) is the founder of the Spring Hill conference center in Massachusetts and of the new age choral enterprise On Wings of Song, with which he has recorded a number of albums. He holds weekend seminars with his wife Judith and has authored a book on psychological and spiritual health benefits of chanting Chanting: Discovering Spirit in Sound (Broadway Books, 1999), together with Kathleen Brehony. On Wings of Song is the new age choral group founded by Robert Gass in 1978. Starting with the album Many Blessings (Fretless, 1980), the group has built up over the course of three decades an impressive discography which popularizes, without despiritualizing, varied strands of world chant tradition. Their 1986 album Om Namaha Shiva was innovative for its extended, meditative presentation of a Sanskrit chant in an accessible musical idiom; the record was used by new-age spiritual teachers worldwide, there having been no precedent in the industry.
