Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Robert H. MacArthur Award is given biannually by the Ecological Society of America to an established ecologist in mid-career for meritorious contributions to ecology, in the expectation of continued outstanding ecological research. Addresses of many recipients have been presentated at the annual meeting of the society and subsequently published in Ecology. The Ecological Society of America (ESA) is a learned society for ecologists located in the United States. It has over 10,000 members. The society publishes the journal Ecology from 1920, and Ecological Monographs, Ecological Applications, Frontiers in Ecology, Issues in Ecology, The Bulletin, and other publications. It holds an annual academic meeting of scientists, at different locations in the USA and Canada. While previously only technical, in the past decade it has made greater attempts to influence policy and reach the general public via its Public Affairs office and publications in non-technical language.
