Bidez was the first director of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band, which he founded in 1908 as a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Bidez was a textile engineering graduate of 1912, vice president of the McGowan-Lyons Hardware and Supply Company in Mobile, Alabama. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band (also known as the Marching Yellow Jackets) is the official marching band of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Founded in 1908 by a group of 14 students, the Georgia Tech Band is one of the school's oldest student organizations.
