It is composed of the northern counties of the state of Georgia and is led by a prelate archbishop who is also pastor of the mother church, Cathedral of Christ the King in the City of Atlanta. The current archbishop is the Most Rev. Wilton D. Gregory. Wilton Daniel Gregory (born December 7, 1947) is an African American clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the sixth and current Archbishop of Atlanta, having previously served as Bishop of Belleville (1993–2004) and Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago (1983–1993). He was president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops from 2001 to 2004.
