High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lusaka (Archidioecesis Lusakensis) in Zambia covers an area of 64,000 km (24,720 mi ). As of 2004, of the 3.3 million citizens in the area, 736,194 are members of the Catholic Church. The archdiocese is subdivided into 70 parishes, and has 184 priests. The archdiocese is the metropolitan for the dioceses of Chipata, Livingstone, Mongu, Monze, Ndola, and Solwezi. A Diocese is the district or see under the pastoral care of a bishop, it is divided into parishes. In some forms of Christianity, a diocese is an administrative territorial unit administered by a bishop. It is also referred to as a bishopric or Episcopal Area (as in United Methodism)/episcopal see, though strictly the term episcopal see refers to the domain of ecclesiastical authority officially held by the bishop, and bishopric to the post of being bishop.
