Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Diocese of Cumania was a Roman Catholic diocese in Hungary. The diocese was founded in 1227 with its seat in Milcov, serving the Cumans and the Teutonic Knights in the Burzenland. The diocese was destroyed during the course of the Mongol invasion of Europe in 1241. It was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Esztergom. A diocese is the district or see under the supervision of a bishop, it is divided into parishes. An archdiocese is more significant than a diocese. An archdiocese is presided over by an archbishop whose see may have or had importance due to size or historical significance. The archbishop may have metropolitan authority over any other (then 'suffragan') bishops and their dioceses within his archdiocese.
