The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cyangugu (Latin: Cyanguguen(sis)) is a diocese located in the city of Cyangugu in the Ecclesiastical province of Kigali in Rwanda. The Catholic Diocese of Cyangugu, in FrenchDiocese Catholique de Cyangugu was established by His Holiness Pope John Paul II on November 14, 1981. It was entrusted to His Excellency Bishop Thaddeus Ntihinyurwa January 24, 1982, as Residential Bishop until his appointment as Archbishop of Kigali, March 25, 1996, and Apostolic Administrator of the Cyangugu until the January 18, 1997, when the Holy Father appointed his successor, His Excellency Bishop John Damascene Bimenyimana, currently Bishop of the Diocese of Cyangugu.
