As one of the seven suffragans of the Archdiocese of Utrecht, the diocesan territory comprises the north west of the Netherlands, including the cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam. Since 2001 Mgr. Dr. Jozef Marianus (Jos) Punt is the head of the diocese, with Johannes Gerardus Maria van Burgsteden being the auxiliary bishop. The cathedral of the diocese is the cathedral of Saint Bavo.
