The Roman Catholic Diocese of Naval (Lat: Dioecesis Navaliensis) is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines. Erected in 1988, the diocese was created from territory in both the Archdiocese of Palo, to which the diocese remains a suffragan. The first and only bishop is Filomeno Gonzales Bactol , appointed in 1988. A diocese is the district or see under the supervision of a bishop, it is divided into parishes. An archdiocese is more significant than a diocese. An archdiocese is presided over by an archbishop whose see may have or had importance due to size or historical significance. The archbishop may have metropolitan authority over any other (then 'suffragan') bishops and their dioceses within his archdiocese.
