The Italian Catholic diocese of Nocera Inferiore-Sarno was created in 1986, merging the historic diocese of Nocera de' Pagani with parts of the diocese of Cava e Sarno. The diocese is a suffragan of the archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno. The Diocese of Cava e Sarno was a Roman Catholic diocesis located in the Italian region Campania. It existed from 1818 to 1986. It was formed in 1818 by merging the historic dioceses of Cava (founded in 1394 centred around La Trinita della Cava), Sarno (founded in 1066) and Nuceria Pagani (refounded in 1386). In 1834, Nuceria was reestablished as a separate diocesis but the other two compoments remained united.
