Roman Catholic Kshatriyas (RCK), are descendants of Kshatriya gaunkars (landlords) and some Vaishya converts to Roman Catholicism in the modern day. Chardos Kshatriyas are different from Kshatriya Komarpant They are respectively known as Chardo in the Goan Catholic dialect) and Charodi in the Mangalorean Catholic dialect of Konkani. The Brahmins and Kshatriyas of Goa, Kashmir and Bengal are the only ones to consume non-vegeterian foods (such as fish) and alcohol. The various groups among the Kshatriyas of Goa, both Hindu and Christian, were mainly the noble and warrior class. Some of them were involved in the trading profession, known as Chattim, which was an occupational appellation common to Brahmins as well.
