Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Catholic Church in Cameroon is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope and curia in Rome. There are an estimated 4.25 million baptised Catholics in the Republic of Cameroon, 26% of the population, in 24 Dioceses. There are 1,350 priests and 2,600 men and women in religious orders. A diocese is the district or see under the supervision of a bishop, it is divided into parishes. An archdiocese is more significant than a diocese. An archdiocese is presided over by an archbishop whose see may have or had importance due to size or historical significance. The archbishop may have metropolitan authority over any other (then 'suffragan') bishops and their dioceses within his ecclesiastical province.
