Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Roman Catholic Church in Namibia is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope and curia in Rome. As of 2004, there were 246,000 Catholics in Namibia- about 13.7% of the total population and the country is divided into two dioceses including one archdiocese, together with an Apostolic Vicariate. An apostolic vicariate is a form of territorial jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Church established in missionary regions and countries that do not have a diocese. It is essentially provisional, though it may last for a century or more. The hope is that the region will generate sufficient numbers of Catholics for the Church to create a diocese.
