The Early Middle Ages in Romania spans the period from the withdrawal of the Roman administration from the province of Dacia in the 271–275 AD, thenceforward modern Romania`s territories were to be crisscrossed by migrating populations for almost 1,000 years. After the Roman province of Dacia was abandoned in the 270s, the territories that would later come to be known as Wallachia, Transylvania, Bessarabia and Moldavia were occupied by a number of succeeding peoples pushed across the map during the Migration period, including the Goths, Attila`s Hunnic Empire, the Gepids, Avars, Bulgars, Magyars, Pechenegs, and Cumans.
