He has never been born and remains inside his mother's womb. His movements are considered the cause of earthquakes. In other forms of M?ori mythology, Ruaumoko was born and clung to Mother Papa's breast until he fell into the Underworld. There, when he walked he created earthquakes in the upper-world.
