Founded in 1999 and directed by Nikolay Cherkasov, the theatre promotes stage arts within the Russian Community of Toronto and beyond, with a number of broad-range productions for children and adults. Plays staged by the Theatre include S.Marshak's "Lady Cat's Mansion", Swartz's "Cinderella" and "The Dragon", "The Musicians from the town of Bremen", "Twelve Months", "Wit Works Woe" by A.S. Griboedov, "There was a War Tomorrow" by Vasiliev, "Funtik's Adventures", Gogol's "Revizor", "The Nutracker" and "Buratino". The Russian Youth Theatre's creative team includes Director Nikolay Cherkasov, Music Director Andrey Kartuzov, Assistant Director Valentina Suetova, and Manager Alla Kartuzova.
