The house has become a very popular J-Horror film icon from the Juon: The Grudge series of films and novels. As of 2007, the house has appeared in all 6 Ju-on films. The house where the Saeki family curse (Kayako Saeki, Takeo Saeki and Toshio Saeki) was born. The murders occurred sometime in November 2001, and since then, the house carries a curse that will kill anyone who dwells or resides inside it. The house has had numerous residents in the Japanese series.
