With the exception of 1904 and possible 1916 sailing was always a part of the Olympic program. The Sailing program of 1924 consisted of a total of three sailing classes (disciplines). For each class a series of elimination and semi-final races was scheduled, from 10–26 July, at Meulan at the river Seine, for the French National Monotype class, and on the English Channel off the coast of Le Havre for the Metre classes.
