It is part of the Chaudiere-Appalaches region and the population is 187 as of 2009. It was named after one of Jesus' first disciples, James, son of Zebedee. Wolfestown is the name of the township in which it is located. It was named after General James Wolfe. Les Appalaches is a regional county municipality (RCM) in southeastern Quebec, Canada, in Chaudiere-Appalaches. It was established in 1982 from parts of the counties of Beauce, Frontenac, Megantic, and Wolfe. The county seat and largest city is Thetford Mines.
