Samuel Moor Shoemaker, III was the rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in New York City, the United States headquarters of the Oxford Group during the 1930s. It was there he met & married Helen Dominick Smith; daughter of Howard Alexander Smith, who was a U.S. senator from New Jersey from 1944 to 1958, and Helen Babcock Dominick.
