The last proposal of Schopenhauer in the face of the negative character of reality and the pessimism that his metaphysics places to the fore is culture versus the idea of a predominant progress within the era, culture which is embodied in art, a higher form of knowledge, which momentarily silences the bitter fight for life, and in morals which reaches it zenith in the negation of life.
