High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! After the initial success of the children`s television program Sesame Street, which premiered in 1969, its producers began to think about the show`s future and explore other funding sources. These sources were in the form of Sesame Street media, which funded the Children Television Workshop`s (CTW) productions of Sesame Street and other shows, as well as its outreach efforts. The products and licensing created enabled the CTW to become, as co-creator Joan Ganz Cooney called it, a "multiple media institution". In 2004, over 68% of Sesame Street`s revenue came from licensing, and in 2008, licensing and merchandising sales earned the Workshop between $15 million and $17 million per year.
