The paper explores what should be understood under the term single tourism. It is certainly a new form of travel, but not obvious to everyone what it means, since it is not clearly defined. Two different understandings of single tourism were found, one of which is that people who travel alone are forming part of the single tourism market. The other approach is of singles travelling together as being part of their lifestyle. The latter is often misunderstood as giving singles the possibility to flirt or date. The paper tries to explain that this is not the main objective, but that this way of travel should give singles the opportunity to travel with like-minded without feeling the odd one out.
