The album was preceded by three separate demos, one of which landed the band a recording contract with Century Media Records in 1994, which lead to this album. Rich Ward, guitarist of the band often notes about the oddity of recording a rap metal record at The Castle, as it was a studio mostly involved in the production of folk music, black metal, etc. A video for Not Promised Tomorrow was also made by Drew Stone of Stone Films.
