High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sodium ferulate (SF), the sodium salt of ferulic acid, is a drug used in traditional Chinese medicine for treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and to prevent thrombosis. It is found in the root of Angelica sinensis. It is considered safe and effective. Ferulic acid can also be extracted from the root of the Chinese herb Ligusticum chuanxiong. Kraft Foods has patented the use of sodium ferulate to mask the aftertaste of the artificial sweetener acesulfame potassium. Sodium is a metallic element with a symbol Na and atomic number 11. It is a soft, silvery-white, highly reactive metal and is a member of the alkali metals within "group 1" (formerly known as ‘group IA'). It has only one stable isotope, 23Na.
