High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sodium methylsulfinylmethylide is the conjugate base of dimethyl sulfoxide. It has several uses in organic chemistry as a base and nucleophile. Since the first publication in 1965 by Corey et al., a large number of publications have described additional uses for this reagent. Within the Br nsted–Lowry acid-base theory (protonic), a conjugate acid is the acid member, HX, of a pair of two compounds that transform into each other by gain or loss of a proton. A conjugate acid can also be seen as the chemical substance that releases, or donates, a proton in the forward chemical reaction, hence, the term acid.
