High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! "Softer, Softest" is the eighth single by American alternative rock band Hole, released in December 1995 by Geffen. It is the last single from their second studio album Live Through This and was released just as the band finished their extensive touring in 1995. During Hole's performance on MTV Unplugged on Valentine's Day 1995, Courtney Love introduced the song as "[being] about the girl that always smelled like pee in your class" and also claimed it was autobiographical and not about former MTV producer, Tabatha Soren. There are also references that allude Love's husband, Kurt Cobain, such as the constant use of the term "milk." Cobain can also be heard on background vocals towards the end of the song and Love confirmed this in 1997 by saying that "there are harmonies all over Live Through This that are Kurt's... you can hear him on 'Pee Girl'."
