Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Sogakudo Concert Hall is a concert hall in Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1890, it is the oldest concert hall in Japan. Formerly the Hall belonged to the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. By 1972, it had become too old for school use, so Taito City obtained the property and designated it as an Important Cultural Properties. The hall was rebuilt in Ueno park, and nearby stands the statue of Rentaro Taki, one of its alumni. A concert hall is a cultural building, which serves as performance venue, chiefly for classical instrumental music. Many concert halls exist as one of several halls or performance spaces within a larger performing arts center and, where appropriate, the name of the arts centre is included.
